Cynthia Brooks
Cynthia Brooks provides expertise to Herten
Burstein clients in the area of commercial real estate transactions,
including acquisitions, dispositions, like-kind exchanges, office
and retail leasing, real estate development, and real estate-related
lending. She gained her strong background in commercial real estate
law through representation of major regional and national clients,
including landlords and tenants of shopping centers and office
space. Ms. Brooks enjoyed a prior career as a banker with a major
regional bank.
Ms. Brooks is a 1986 graduate of Georgetown
University,
Washington, D.C. In 1994, she earned her J.D. from Georgetown
University Law Center, where she was a member of the Georgetown
Immigration Law Journal and a member of the Center for Applied Legal
Studies Clinic.
As a member of the National Bar Association, Real
Estate Property Section, Ms. Brooks served as a panelist for the
Association's national leasing seminar. Her other professional
associations include the American Bar Association, Women Rainmakers
Section; the New Jersey State Bar Association, for which she served
on the Young Lawyers Division Executive Committee and received the
Community Service Award; and Industrial/Commercial Real Estate
Women.
Ms. Brooks is active in her community as well, having served on the
Township of Montclair’s Zoning Board of Adjustment and as Secretary
to the Board of Trustees of Essex Valley School, Inc. At the state
level, Ms. Brooks was Campaign Finance Director for Thom Jackson’s
2005 State Assembly campaign.
