Nilufer O. DeScherer
Nilufer O. DeScherer practices in a broad range of
areas including real estate, commercial lending, municipal law, land
use and civil litigation. Her litigation experience in the trial and
appellate courts includes matters involving injunctive relief,
condemnation, affordable housing and commercial and land use
disputes. She handles commercial real estate purchases and sales in
New Jersey and New York for the firm’s individual and corporate
clients. Ms. DeScherer also serves as borrower’s and lender’s
counsel for New Jersey and multi-state financing transactions.
Along with the many other land use attorneys at
Herten Burstein she has handled land use matters in both New Jersey
and New York. She has also served as municipal and land use attorney
for municipalities and sewerage authorities. Her expertise in New
Jersey Department of Environmental Protection regulations,
permitting and enforcement is an asset to both the firm’s municipal
and commercial clients.
As a member of the Land Use Section of the Bergen
County Bar Association, Ms. DeScherer participates in the Bar
Association’s Annual Land Use Symposium. She is also a member of the
Local Government Section of the New Jersey Bar Association.
Her volunteer activities include participating as
a judge in the Vincent J. Appruzzese Mock Trial Competition for high
school students and serving as an alumni interviewer for Vassar
College.
