John P. Fazzio III is a business lawyer with experience in the tax and intellectual property fields. Mr. Fazzio represents clients in a range of corporate matters, beginning with the choice of a business entity and the initial agreements between the founders. He serves as a counselor to business on mergers and acquisitions, contracts with vendors and suppliers, negotiation of business disputes, the protection of intellectual property and trade secrets, joint ventures, and strategies for minimizing tax incidence. Mr. Fazzio utilizes his tax background to structure transactions in a tax-efficient manner and his intellectual property experience to assist companies with the registration and protection of intellectual property assets. When necessary, Mr. Fazzio engages in business litigation. He calls upon both his business background and his experience with high-stakes negotiation as a prosecuting attorney to achieve a result that makes financial sense for his clients. Mr. Fazzio will receive an L.L.M. in taxation from New York University School of Law in 2010. He received his J.D. from Brooklyn Law School in 2005, where he served on the Journal of Law and Policy and led his moot court team to win the Albert R. Mugel National Appellate Tax Competition. During law school, Mr. Fazzio attended the Columbia Graduate School of Business, where he supplemented his legal studies with a selection of courses from the corporate finance curriculum. This financial background enables Mr. Fazzio to better understand the financial aspect of business transactions. He received his B.S. in business management from The College of New Jersey. Prior to entering private practice, Mr. Fazzio served as a Law Clerk to the Honorable Frederick J. Schuck, J.S.C. in the Camden County Vicinage of the Superior Court of New Jersey. Mr. Fazzio also served as a prosecuting attorney with the Burlington County Prosecutor's Office. A pupil of the Honorable Morris Pashman Inn of Court during the 2008-2009 term, Mr. Fazzio continues to hone his trial advocacy and negotiation skills. He is a member of the American Bar Association, the New Jersey State Bar Association, the New York State Bar Association, the New York City Bar Association and the Pennsylvania Bar Association. In addition to his practice, Mr. Fazzio volunteers his time to the Military Legal Assistance Program of the New Jersey State Bar Association, assisting veterans with pro bono matters.
